The Entrainment Centre
Why are we called The Entrainment Centre?
In physics, 'entrainment' is the process by which two different oscillating systems assume the same period. We might see this happen in the old fashioned wlock shops - where 'pendulums' that used to keep clocks in time would begin to swing in sychronicity - aligning with the biggest, most powerful pendulum.
In respect of the human being we are innately aware of rhythmical entrainment. We don't have to 'think' about being in 'rhythm', as it is a natural part of our body systems (even if we don't believe we are very rhythmical). We often align with musical rhythmic beats, which affect our Central Nervous system and how we 'feel'. We might unconsciously begin to 'sway' or dance - as a way that human beings have always 'connected' to each other and the 'group'.
Where are we?
This is why rhythmic drumming and music is an essential part of group bonding, socialising and religious or spiritual activities.
It makes us feel 'at one' with something that is outside of us - that is bigger than us! It also makes us feel connected to one another!
Entrainment is also refered to as the practice of entraining ones brainwaves to a desired frequency. This is often used now with binaural beats - as a way to induce different brain waves and levels of consciousness.
